Help us protect democracy and Europe’s citizens!

The EUDare pro-European but seek to reform the current model of the European Union. When the French and Dutch people refused to ratify the European Constitution in 2004, it became clear that European integration could not continue without the consent of its citizens. The Constitution was abandoned and replaced by the almost identical Treaty of Lisbon. In Ireland, a referendum on this Treaty in 2008 showed that the Irish were clearly opposed to its ratification. Once again, the government refused to accept its people’s will and organised a second referendum in 2009. This time, the Irish people voted in favour of the Lisbon Treaty. Nevertheless, the EUD questions whether the Irish “Yes” was really a statement in favour of the Lisbon agenda or if it was in fact merely a vote in favour of Ireland’s membership in the EU during the current economic crisis. Of course, the EUD accepts the result of the second Irish referendum but thinks that the original negative answer of the Irish people should have been respected by both the Irish government and Brussels. This is yet another flagrant example of the lack of democracy in the EU.

Our leadership has over 30 years of experience in organising referendum campaigns and helping citizens improve democracy in Europe. Furthermore, we work in favour of transparency, subsidiarity and diversity. Your donations are greatly needed in our efforts to reform the EU model and augment the citizens’ decision making power.

Your financial support means saying “NO” to centralisation and “YES” to democracy.
